Lt. Col Michelle Atkins Hindu Kush, Panjshir Province
Dear OnSight Support
I am a Civil Affairs Officer in the Army. I am serving in Afghanistan on a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) where I am the Deputy Commander. My PRT is in the Hindu Kush in Panjshir Province In Afghanistan. Some of the projects we have been involved with are drilling wells for a source of fresh drinking water, building schools for both boys and girls, training the National Police, providing medical care to the people. It is hard to imagine a place that does not have electricity, water, telephones and other public utilities that we are so accustom to back in the U.S. In so many ways it is more like the turn of the 20th century rather than the 21th century here. It is beautiful here. The mountains rise to over 15,000 feet and our Forward Operation Base is located at 6900 feet elevation... I am sending you this letter and Thanking You very much for all your letters and donated goods I received around Christmas-time; sorry I have been slow in my response. I am sending you a link to our photographic web site with this letter. Thank You for your support. I hope you all had a Very Happy New Year ! It is always good to know that so many people back home wish us well and pray for our safe return. Thank You ...
Lt.Col Michelle Atkins Deputy Commander U S Army PRT Panjshir, Afghanistan

Comments: To OnSight Support Mr. Kester This is Spc. Thomas Fauteux, I just wanted to let you know I recieved your package on my return from my mid tour leave so I'm not sure about the date it was actually received here. But it was truly awesome to go into the hanger I'm assigned to turn in my paperwork after traveling for little over a day or so from Kuwait back to Bagram Air Base ( post holiday travel crunch ) and find such an awesome surprise... It definitely lifted my spirits. I grabbed a few things from it and then shared it with the other soldiers in my unit so they could also enjoy some stuff. Thanks to you and all who keep your organization going, your efforts, thoughtfulness and support were definitely appreciated by myself and my fellow soldiers. THANK YOU ! Spc. Thomas Fauteux B co. 3/126 AVN GSAB
